What Is Ear Syringing

Ear syringing is a safe and effective procedure used to remove excess earwax or foreign objects from the ear canal. This procedure helps restore hearing, relieve discomfort, and prevent complications caused by blockages.

What to Expect

During the appointment, our experienced clinical team will:

  • Assess your ear canal to determine the presence of wax or any other obstructions
  • Use a gentle flushing technique with warm water or a saline solution to soften and dislodge the wax
  • Carefully remove the wax or debris, ensuring the ear canal and eardrum remain safe and unharmed

The procedure is typically quick, minimally uncomfortable, and can significantly improve hearing, comfort, and overall ear health.

Please note that In some cases, if the wax is particularly hard, impacted, or difficult to remove with syringing, we may need to refer you for microsuction, a specialised procedure that safely removes stubborn wax under direct visualisation.

Before Your Appointment

To ensure the procedure is safe and effective:

  • Do not use cotton buds or other objects to attempt wax removal before your appointment
  • Inform our clinical team if you have a history of ear surgery, perforated eardrums, or ear infections
  • Avoid ear drops unless instructed by your healthcare provider

After Care

  • Some mild temporary discomfort or water sensation in the ear may occur
  • Avoid inserting objects into the ear canal following the procedure
  • Contact the clinic if you experience pain, discharge, or persistent hearing changes
